Digital twins
A ‘digital twin’ is a digital model of a physical object, or system, that serves as the indistinguishable digital counterpart of it for practical purposes. The benefits of having a digital twin include:
• Improved productivity - allows users to investigate solutions for product lifecycle extension, manufacturing and process improvements.
• Product development and prototype testing.
• Calcluate and reduce risks.

Damage assessment and Insurance claims
We are able to use 3D scanning and modelling to survey any damage to a vessel’s hull and machinery. The 3D technology captures accurate data, including changes in hull geometry and the disposition of damaged elements. Get detailed information and viewing on damages for proof of claims.
-
3D scans for refit and repairs
Ensure the perfect fit of manufactured items by having an existing vessel or structure scanned to pin-point accuracy. Get the most precise measurements for interiors, pipework and layouts.
-
Yacht racing
Some professional yacht racing requires precise measurements so that a boat’s performance can be defined. Having a 3D scan of a boat’s hull can enable a handicap rating to be calculated.
-
Quality control and inspection
When manufacturing machinery, parts and tooling, quality control is of the utmost importance. Ensure the perfect fit of manufactured items by having an existing vessel or structure scanned to pin-point accuracy.
-
Files for output
Data will be supplied to you in .STL .STEP .PDF .OBJ - the files are compatible with over 50 software packages depending. Inspection reports output as Excel or .PDF files.
-
Further uses of 3D scanned data
• Planning Machinery and equipment placement
• Reverse engineering
• Custom windows
• Blueprints for vintage vessels
• Replacement deck or grip
-
Collaboration
We are able to collaborate with naval architects, designers and shipyards to capture the required information with a level of detail that is second to none. Data will be supplied to you in your required files type. We can supply CAD files in either 2D or 3D depending on your requirement.
